Backpack of Survival

The most convenient way to carry your stuff is a backpack. You will need to be careful what you carry. You want to avoid anything that may leak or spill. If you do carry something that may spill or leak, then wrap it within 3 plastic bags to help prevent a mess in your backpack. The following is a list which I've compiled of must-have items to have in your backpack.

Hygiene & First Aid Kit - 1 Good razor (Gillette Mach 3/Mach 3 Turbo for men and Gillette Venus Embrace for women) with 2 cartridges or a disposable, small can of shaving cream, 1 stick deodorant (Burt's Bees for men and Secret Outlast Xtend Antiperspirant & Deodorant Invisible Solid Sport Fresh for women), 1 bottle of shampoo/conditioner combo, 1 lip balm,  5 regular band aids, 5 pack of 4"x 4" gauze, 1 self adherent bandage roll, small bottle of Purell hand sanitizer, small tube of Neosporin, small tube of triple antibiotic cream, 5 antibacterial wipes, body wash, 1 toothbrush & toothpaste, 1 roll of toilet paper, 1 wash cloth, 1 pair safety scissors, 5 safety pins, 5 tongue depressors, 1 Mylar Emergency Blanket, 1 pair of cotton/canvas gloves, most can fit in one gallon zip-lock storage bag. Women will need 7 tampons or maxi-pads.
Small Bright LED Flashlight or Crank Flashlight - If you believe that you'll have regular access to batteries, go for an LED Flashlight. Otherwise get a Crank Flashlight that won't require them.

10-15 Small Plastic Bags - It will be important to separate things. For example, you don't want to mix up food with dirty clothes. If you are near a community usually there are small plastic dogie bags available for free to the public.

Plastic or Stainless Steel Water Bottle - Do not reuse a disposable water bottle that you think can be refilled. Reusing one increases the chances of bacteria, they can also break easily. 18-30 ounces is the recommended capacity. Be sure to clean it regularly with mild soap and water.

Emergency Food - 4-8 energy bars can make a difference if you are unable to find food for a few days.

Spare Clothing - 3 piece of underwear, 5 pair of socks, 2 t-shirt, 2 bandannas, 1 beanie cap.
Optional: 10' Paracord Rope & Waterproof Tarp - If you are out in the wild, these items will help you set up camp if you don't want to carry a small tent.
