Basic Rules of Being Homeless

I'm currently homeless but it's not the first time I've been so. It is the second time. I learned a lot the first time, even more so this time around. Here are the rules that can help you survive if you are homeless.

Be Invisible - You don't want to bring attention to yourself (day and night), specially in a residential area.

Carry Only what you Need - You can spot someone who is new to being homeless by the large amount of things they are carrying around (luggage sometimes). While there is nothing wrong with wanting to have everything you're used to at hand, the fact is that the more you carry, the more noticeable you are. Not only that, but more weight means you get tired more often.

Be Friendly and Humble - You want people to sympathize with you, without looking pathetic. Keeping up with hygiene and clean clothes goes a long way so people don't avoid you due to smell. Nothing is owed to you, NOTHING.

Find Food -  There are homeless in every city, wherever you go. Usually you can spot one, don't hesitate to ask if there is a soup kitchen nearby.

Find Clothes - If you found a soup kitchen, then you can ask people who work there where you can get some clothing. Usually they will understand you have little to no means to buy them and help you.

Bathroom Use - You will need to use the bathroom every day. Dunking Donuts, Starbucks, Pizzerias are great places to use the bathroom, also fast food chains like McDonalds, Burger King, Arby's, Taco Bell, Wendy's, etc.

Look for the nearest Library - Libraries have a high tolerance for homeless as long as you don't stink, are high or drunk. Usually there will be a police officer on duty at most libraries (don't bring alcohol or drugs).
